The 2011 Malawi 20 Kwacha Year of the Rabbit is a colorful .999 silver Proof coin from the Lunar Calendar series, celebrating the Rabbit as a traditional symbol of grace, vigilance and good fortune. The reverse presents a finely engraved rabbit in profile with long upright ears, detailed fur, whiskers, eye and paws. Above it blooms a vivid floral arrangement of large pink and yellow peony-like flowers, buds, green leaves and branching stems. Below are two orange pumpkins of different sizes surrounded by curling vines and broad green leaves. Stylized swirling cloud ornaments frame the composition, accompanied by a red square zodiac character and the 2011 date. The obverse carries Malawi’s national coat of arms with heraldic shield, lion and leopard supporters, elaborate crest and the Unity and Freedom motto, surrounded by the country name, 20 Kwacha denomination and beaded border. The Proof finish, selective coloring and rich combination of zodiac animal, flowers and harvest imagery make this an attractive world lunar collectible.
