Macedonia 100 denars Saint Matrona of Moscow Icon gilded silver coin 2017

The 2017 Macedonia 100 Denars Saint Matrona of Moscow silver coin is an impressive religious issue combining Orthodox iconography with selective gilding and color. The obverse presents Saint Matrona standing frontally with hands crossed in prayer. She wears a white head covering and a richly patterned green robe, while a radiant gilded halo surrounds her head. A lattice background and elaborate gilded interlaced ornamental frame give the composition the appearance of a precious icon. Matrona of Moscow was a revered Orthodox saint remembered for her deep faith, spiritual counsel and devotion to people seeking comfort and help. The reverse depicts an elaborate Orthodox monastery and church complex with towers, arches, walls, windows, crosses and multiple gilded onion domes. The national emblem, denomination and 2017 date complete the design. Struck in .925 silver with Proof finish, gilding and color, this rectangular coin beautifully unites architecture, sacred art and Orthodox tradition, making it a striking addition to religious numismatic collections.
