The 2003 Macedonia 100 Denari Statehood Mihailo Apostolski silver Proba is a scarce experimental commemorative issue dedicated to Mihailo Apostolski (1906–1987), a military commander and historian associated with Macedonia’s World War II history. The obverse presents a detailed three-quarter portrait of Apostolski in military uniform, wearing a distinctive side cap with a central emblem; his facial features, jacket collar and uniform folds are carefully modeled against reflective fields. The reverse features a symbolic statehood monument composed of a tall central pillar rising from a stepped platform, broad geometric structures, two circular grid-like emblems and a concentric oval motif at the top. The bold 100 Denari denomination fills the lower field. Produced in silver as a Proba rather than regular circulating coinage, this 2003 piece has strong collector appeal through its experimental character and unusual monumental design. Combining military history, politics, statehood symbolism and portraiture, it is an intriguing addition to a specialized collection of Macedonian patterns and world silver coins.
