The 2003 Macedonia 100 Denari Statehood Krste Petkov Misirkov silver Proba is a distinctive experimental commemorative issue honoring Krste Petkov Misirkov (1874–1926), a philologist, journalist, historian and author whose work holds an important place in the development of the Macedonian literary language. The obverse features a finely modeled frontal portrait with short hair, full beard, curled moustache, formal jacket, shirt and bow tie. The reverse presents an open book with clearly outlined layered pages, flanked symmetrically by two slender leafy branches. Its design refers to Misirkov’s influential 1903 work “On Macedonian Matters,” with a facsimile-style signature prominently displayed across the book. The 100 Denari denomination crowns the composition, while the centenary dates 1903–2003 appear below. Struck in silver as a Proba rather than regular circulation coinage, this piece combines reflective fields with crisp relief. Its pattern status and themes of literature, linguistics, politics and cultural history make it a compelling Macedonian collectible.
