Macau 100 Patacas 1985 silver coin commemorates the official visit of Portuguese President António Ramalho Eanes to Macau, combining political history with traditional heraldic imagery. Struck in Proof and certified PCGS PR68DCAM, it features deeply mirrored fields and sharply contrasting relief. The obverse presents a left-facing portrait of President Eanes wearing glasses, carefully modeled with facial features, hair and formal collar. A surrounding Portuguese commemorative legend identifies his visit to Macau, while Chinese characters and the date 1985 appear below. The reverse displays Macau’s historic coat of arms: a crowned Portuguese shield supported by two winged angels, each holding a symbolic object, above flowing ribbon scrolls bearing the heraldic motto. A semicircle of stars surrounds the emblem, while MACAU, Chinese characters and the 100 PATACAS denomination complete the design. Eanes served as President of Portugal from 1976 to 1986 and played an important role during Portugal’s democratic transition. This certified silver issue offers a compelling combination of portraiture, politics, heraldry and Macau history.
