The 2010 Luxembourg 700 Eurocents silver coin commemorates the historic marriage of John of Bohemia and Elisabeth of Bohemia, a dynastic union celebrated 700 years later. Its medieval-themed reverse portrays the couple as two full-length figures facing one another and joining hands, John in a long belted garment and Elisabeth in a flowing gown with exceptionally long wavy hair. A dense field of small cross-like floral ornaments fills the background, while the dates 1310–2010, denomination and surrounding commemorative text frame the scene. The obverse presents the stylized left-facing portrait of Grand Duke Henri alongside Luxembourg’s crowned lion coat of arms in a distinctive colored square, with the year 2010, stars and Luxembourg lettering around the border. John, son of Emperor Henry VII, married Elisabeth of the Přemyslid dynasty in 1310 and subsequently became King of Bohemia, linking Luxembourg closely with the Bohemian crown. With its unusual 700 Eurocents denomination, medieval royal theme, silver composition and refined Proof presentation, this is a fascinating addition to European historical and royal collections.
