The 1925 Latvia 2 Lati Republic silver coin, KM-8 / Schön-8, is an attractive early issue from the independent Latvian Republic and a classic example of national heraldic coinage. The obverse presents Latvia’s elaborate coat of arms: a rising sun above a divided shield with heraldic lion and griffin, supported by a larger lion and griffin. Three stars crown the composition, while oak branches, decorative ribbon and the national title complete the design. The reverse displays the large denomination 2 LATI above the date 1925, framed by two sweeping grain ears tied together at the base, with a finely beaded border around the rim.
