Latvia 1 Lats 2009 “Coin of Water” is an imaginative silver Proof commemorative devoted to water as a fundamental force of nature and source of life. LATVIJAS REPUBLIKA appears above, while the Roman numerals MMIX indicate 2009. A large stylized droplet near the upper right contains a graphic symbol formed from circles and curved lines. The reverse features an extraordinary magnified snowflake or ice crystal with six branching arms, textured crystalline surfaces and a densely dotted central core.
