A coin with some oxides, a capsule (please, check photos).
The 1999 Liberia 10 Dollars “Seafaring – Vijia” silver Proof coin celebrates the age of sailing ships and the maritime heritage embodied by the historic vessel Vijia. The reverse presents a richly detailed three-masted sailing ship underway, its large sails raised above a finely rendered wooden hull, rigging and projecting spars. Small flags fly from the masts, while stylized waves beneath the vessel emphasize its seafaring character. The ship’s name VIJIA appears above and the date 1618 below. The obverse displays Liberia’s national coat of arms: a sailing ship approaching the coast, a palm tree, rising sun, plow and agricultural landscape within an ornate shield. Flowing ribbons frame the arms, with the national motto above, Republic of Liberia identification, 1999 date and 10 Dollars denomination completing the design. Struck in silver with a brilliant Proof finish, this attractive maritime collectible combines sailing ships, naval history, exploration, heraldry and classic numismatic artistry.
