The 2001 Liberia 20 Dollars TGV Atlantique silver coin from the Legends of the Rails series celebrates France’s famous high-speed railway technology. The railway side presents a TGV Atlantique electric train from a dramatic three-quarter perspective, emphasizing its streamlined aerodynamic nose, front windows, articulated passenger cars and undercarriage. Railway tracks, textured track bed, catenary poles, pantograph and multiple overhead electrical wires complete the high-speed rail scene. Introduced into service around the turn of the 1990s, the TGV Atlantique became an important generation of France’s TGV network, linking Paris with destinations in western and southwestern France.
