The 2011 Liberia 5 Dollars Trans-Siberian Railroad silver coin celebrates the legendary railway linking European Russia with the vast landscapes of Siberia and the Russian Far East. Issued in the History of Railroads series, the reverse presents a dramatic colorized steam locomotive approaching head-on, with a red pilot, circular boiler front, headlamp, red star emblem and dark machinery partly enveloped by a dense cloud of smoke. A railway sign marked “TYPE L” and rugged mountain scenery complete the composition, framed by stars and the railroad theme. Construction of the Trans-Siberian Railway began in 1891, and the route became a major transport artery connecting Moscow with Vladivostok across thousands of kilometers. The obverse features Liberia’s coat of arms with a sailing ship, bird, palm tree, rising sun, sea and plow within an ornate shield. Struck in silver with Proof Deep Cameo finish, this 2011 issue is certified PCGS PR70DCAM, a perfect grade. A superb choice for collectors of trains, transportation history and certified world silver coins.
