The 2011 Liberia 5 Dollars Mallard is an impressive silver Proof coin from the History of Railroads series, honoring one of Britain’s most celebrated steam locomotives. The reverse features a selectively colorized frontal view of the streamlined Mallard, its distinctive blue body, rounded nose, buffers and locomotive number 4468 standing out dramatically against the reflective field. A powerful dark plume of smoke rises above the engine, while railway tracks, platform structures and architectural details appear alongside it; stars and the History of Railroads border complete the composition. Mallard was built for the London and North Eastern Railway and became famous in 1938 for setting the world speed record for a steam locomotive. The obverse displays Liberia’s coat of arms with a sailing ship, sea, palm tree, rising sun, bird and plow, together with the 2011 date and 5 Dollars denomination. Certified PCGS PR69DCAM, this near-perfect Deep Cameo coin combines railway history, engineering and exceptional numismatic presentation.
