The 2011 Liberia 5 Dollars MAV-220 is a striking silver Proof coin from the History of Railroads series, celebrating the engineering heritage of steam-powered transportation. The reverse presents a selectively colored MAV-220 steam locomotive moving along the railway, viewed from the side at a slight angle. Its dark boiler, cab, chimney, wheels and mechanical components are accompanied by a dense plume of black smoke and lighter steam near the track, while green ground adds color beneath the train. Small stars and a circular border frame the railway scene. The obverse features Liberia’s national coat of arms with an ornate shield containing a three-masted sailing ship, ocean waves, palm tree, rising sun, flying bird and plow, surrounded by ribbons and the 2011 date and 5 Dollars denomination. This silver coin is certified PCGS PR69DCAM, an exceptional near-perfect Deep Cameo grade. Combining locomotive history, transportation and colorful numismatic art, it is a desirable addition to railroad and certified world coin collections.
