The 1997 Lithuania 50 Litu silver Proof coin commemorates the 600th anniversary of the settlement of Karaim and Tatar communities in Lithuania, celebrating a distinctive part of the country’s multicultural heritage. Certified PCGS PR70DCAM, this premium example displays exceptional contrast and detail. The commemorative side portrays two medieval figures in traditional attire: a standing warrior holds a tall spear and a large richly ornamented shield decorated with scrolling motifs, while the second figure carries a bow and arrow. Their long garments, belts, boots, headgear and weapons evoke the military traditions of the period, surrounded by an anniversary legend marking 600 years. The opposite side features Lithuania’s Vytis emblem: an armored knight riding a rearing horse, brandishing a raised sword and carrying a shield with the double cross. LIETUVA, the 1997 date, 50 Litu denomination and mint mark complete the design. The issue recalls communities established in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania during the late 14th century. A perfect-grade historical silver coin combining medieval imagery, ethnic heritage and Lithuanian national symbolism.
