The 2012 Lithuania 50 Litu Pond Turtle silver coin is an exceptional PF 70 NGC certified Proof dedicated to Emys orbicularis, the European pond turtle, and the protection of Lithuania’s native wildlife. The wildlife side presents a remarkably detailed turtle moving among angular aquatic plant stems and leaves. Its patterned shell is formed by individual geometric scutes with fine internal markings, while the textured head, eye, scaled legs, claws and long tail create a lifelike portrait. The design includes the species name Emys orbicularis, the Lithuanian wording for pond turtle and the 50 Litu denomination. The opposite side displays Lithuania’s Vytis national emblem: an armored knight riding a powerful horse, raising a sword and carrying a heraldic shield with the double cross; reins, armor, saddle, horse tack and flowing tail add further detail. The country name, 2012 date and Lithuanian Mint mark complete the composition. Struck in .925 silver and preserved at the perfect PF 70 NGC grade, this impressive wildlife issue combines conservation, fauna and Lithuanian national symbolism in a premium certified collectible.
