Lithuania 50 litu Cardinal Vincent Sladkevicius PR69 PCGS silver coin 2005

The 2005 Lithuania 50 Litu silver Proof coin honors Cardinal Vincentas Sladkevičius, an important Lithuanian Catholic churchman whose life spanned 1920–2000. The reverse presents a finely modeled portrait of the Cardinal wearing clerical dress, skullcap and pectoral cross. Beside him appears his elaborate ecclesiastical coat of arms with shield, cardinal’s hat, tassels and motto, while his name and commemorative dates frame the composition. The obverse uses a striking geometric cross dividing the field into sections, accompanied by Lithuania’s Vytis coat of arms showing an armored mounted knight with raised sword and shield, plus the country, 2005 date and 50 Litu denomination. Sladkevičius became a cardinal in 1988 and was a prominent figure in Lithuania’s Catholic life during a period of profound national change. Certified PCGS PR69DCAM, this silver coin combines deep-mirror Proof fields, religious symbolism, portraiture and Lithuanian history in a highly collectible issue.
