The 1994 Lithuania 10 Litu commemorative CuNi coin celebrates the Lithuanian Song Festival, a powerful expression of national music, folklore and cultural tradition. The obverse features two stylized kankles, traditional Lithuanian plucked string instruments, shown upright with clearly defined strings, curved frames and resonating bodies. A decorative sun or rosette symbol appears between them, while the surrounding legend identifies the Lithuanian Song Festival and the date 1994 completes the composition. The reverse depicts Vytis, Lithuania’s historic mounted knight: an armored rider on a charging horse raises a sword overhead and carries a shield bearing the double cross. Fine details include the horse’s bridle, saddle, flowing tail, the knight’s armor and long scabbard. The 10 Litu denomination and Lithuania name accompany the national emblem. Lithuanian song festivals preserve choral music, folk traditions and collective cultural heritage, while the kankles remain one of the country’s most recognizable traditional instruments. Combining music, folklore, heraldry and national symbolism, this attractive CuNi issue is an excellent addition to a Lithuanian or world commemorative collection.
