The 2011 Liberia 5 Dollars The Orient Express silver coin celebrates one of the most legendary names in railway and luxury travel history. Part of the History of Railroads series, its reverse presents a dramatic colorized steam locomotive pulling passenger coaches across a steel railway bridge. Thick smoke rises from the engine above a vivid landscape of green fields, trees and houses, while a striking red-orange tree dominates the foreground. In the distance, a monumental domed building with slender minarets evokes the historic route toward Constantinople, the celebrated eastern terminus of the original service. Launched in 1883, the Orient Express became synonymous with elegant long-distance European rail travel and inspired generations of travelers, writers and filmmakers. The obverse displays Liberia’s coat of arms with sailing ship, palm tree, rising sun, bird, sea and plow. Struck in silver with Proof Deep Cameo finish, this 2011 issue is certified PCGS PR70DCAM, a perfect grade combining railway history, colorful artistry and premium collectible quality.
