The 2001 Liberia 20 Dollars Seraing silver coin from the Legends of the Rails series celebrates an unusual early steam locomotive and the development of railway engineering. Certified PCGS PR68DCAM, this Proof coin features strongly frosted relief against deep mirrorlike fields. The railway side depicts the Seraing locomotive in profile, distinguished by its symmetrical appearance and two tall flared smokestacks at opposite ends, both releasing curling clouds of steam or smoke. Between them are the boiler, domes, cab fittings and mechanical equipment, while numerous wheels, connecting components and detailed running gear rest above parallel rails and sleepers. The composition captures the industrial character of early steam transportation and the ingenuity that transformed nineteenth-century travel and freight movement. The obverse displays Liberia’s coat of arms with a sailing ship, ocean waves, palm tree, rising sun, flying bird and plow, surrounded by ribbons and the divided 2001 date. A distinctive certified silver collectible for railway, locomotive and industrial-history enthusiasts.
