The 2001 Liberia 20 Dollars Krokodil CE 6/8 silver coin from the Legends of the Rails series celebrates one of the most recognizable historic electric locomotive designs. Certified PCGS PR67DCAM, it combines sharply frosted relief with deep mirrorlike Proof fields. The railway side depicts the long articulated Krokodil electric locomotive in perspective, revealing its central body, extended articulated sections, numerous spoked driving wheels, connecting rods, buffers and detailed running gear. Twin railway tracks stretch beneath the engine, while overhead electrical wires and the raised pantograph emphasize its electric traction. The CE 6/8 “Crocodile” locomotives became famous for their distinctive articulated construction and service on demanding Alpine railway routes, making the design an icon of European railway engineering. The obverse carries Liberia’s coat of arms with sailing ship, waves, palm tree, rising sun, bird and plow, framed by ribbons and the divided 2001 date. An excellent collectible for railway, electric locomotive and transportation enthusiasts.
