The 2001 Liberia 20 Dollars Evening Star silver coin from the “Legends of the Rails” series celebrates one of the celebrated steam locomotives of British railway history. Certified PCGS PR67DCAM, this Proof coin offers strongly frosted relief against deep mirrored fields. The railway side depicts the Evening Star steam locomotive in a dramatic three-quarter view, with its long cylindrical boiler, smokebox, chimney, cab, tender, large driving wheels, connecting rods and detailed mechanical undercarriage. Parallel railway tracks, sleepers and textured ballast extend beneath the engine, while clouds and a star appear above the train. Evening Star, completed in 1960, became famous as the last steam locomotive built by British Railways, giving the design special significance in the transition from steam to modern traction. The reverse features Liberia’s coat of arms with a sailing ship, ocean waves, palm tree, rising sun, flying bird, plow, ribbons and divided 2001 date. A fascinating certified silver collectible combining railway heritage, engineering and classic steam power.
