The 2000 Liberia 20 Dollars Dwight D. Eisenhower proof silver coin honors the 34th President of the United States and celebrated Allied military commander. The reverse presents a formal bust of Eisenhower with his distinctive high forehead, short hair, jacket, shirt and tie, framed by his presidential title, the years 1953–1961 and the $20 denomination. Before his presidency, Eisenhower served as Supreme Commander of the Allied Expeditionary Force in Europe during World War II and directed the Allied invasion of Normandy in 1944. As president from 1953 to 1961, he guided the United States through a major period of the Cold War and supported development of the Interstate Highway System. The obverse displays Liberia’s national coat of arms with an ornate shield, three-masted sailing ship, ocean waves, palm tree, rising sun, flying bird and plow, together with the 2000 date and 20 Dollars denomination. Struck in silver with a brilliant Proof finish, this historical issue combines presidential, military and WWII themes in an impressive collectible.
