Liberia 10 Dollars 1999 Christopher Columbus is a silver coin combining maritime exploration, historic sailing ships and the legacy of one of the best-known navigators of the Age of Exploration. The reverse presents a portrait of Christopher Columbus wearing period clothing and a distinctive cap, accompanied by a large sailing vessel riding through stylized ocean waves. Fine details include the ship’s wooden hull, multiple masts, square sails, rigging, ropes and raised stern, while a small heraldic shield appears beside the portrait. Columbus, whose life dates 1451–1506 are shown on the coin, led the 1492 Atlantic expedition that established sustained contact between Europe and the Americas, profoundly influencing subsequent world history. The obverse features Liberia’s coat of arms with a three-masted ship, palm tree, rising sun, flying bird, plow, sea, shield and ribbons, framed by the 1999 date and 10 Dollars denomination. Its maritime imagery and Proof-style silver finish make this an appealing historical world collectible.
