Liberia 10 Dollars 2005 Moric Benovsky is a silver Proof coin celebrating the adventurous life of Maurice Benyovszky, the 18th-century traveler, soldier and explorer associated with remarkable voyages across Europe, Asia and the Indian Ocean. The reverse presents a richly detailed sailing vessel cutting through rolling waves, with a high decorated stern, multiple masts, rigging, large sails and several flags. Above the ship is an oval portrait of Benovsky, while another sailing vessel appears in the distance, reinforcing the maritime theme. The dates 1741–1786 and 2005 complete the composition. The obverse displays Liberia’s national coat of arms: a shield containing a sailing ship, palm tree, rising sun, plow and flying bird, surrounded by ornamental ribbons and the 10 Dollars denomination. The polished Proof fields emphasize every line of the ships and portrait. A fascinating collectible for admirers of maritime history, explorers, historic sailing ships and unusual world silver coinage.
