The 1992 Liberia 10 Dollars is a Proof silver commemorative honoring Willy Brandt (1913–1992), one of the leading German statesmen of the postwar era. The main design presents a finely modeled right-facing portrait of Brandt, with his name, life dates and the memorial inscription arranged around the rim. Beneath the portrait appears Berlin’s famous Quadriga: a four-horse chariot crowned by the winged figure of Victory, an unmistakable symbol associated with the Brandenburg Gate. The opposite side displays Liberia’s national coat of arms with a three-masted sailing ship on the sea, palm tree, rising sun, flying bird, plow and landscape, framed by decorative ribbons and the national motto. The divided 1992 date, 10 Dollars denomination and fine silver marking complete the design. Brandt served as Chancellor of West Germany from 1969 to 1974 and received the 1971 Nobel Peace Prize for efforts toward reconciliation and improved relations between East and West. A distinctive political and historical Proof coin combining German heritage, Berlin symbolism and classic Liberian numismatic design.
