Lithuania 50 litu Poet Maironis Jonas Maciulis Poetry proof silver coin 2012

The 2012 Lithuania 50 Litu silver Proof coin honors Jonas Mačiulis, better known by his pen name Maironis, one of the defining figures of Lithuanian poetry and national literature. Created for the 150th anniversary of his birth, the coin presents an exceptionally expressive modern design. One side features a fragmented half-portrait of Maironis with carefully rendered hair, eye, round eyeglass, nose and collar, accompanied by his stylized signature. Beside the portrait is a vertical arrangement of words from his poetry and the anniversary number 150. The opposite side depicts Lithuania’s Vytis in a dynamic linear interpretation: an armored mounted knight with raised sword, shield and flowing details, together with the Lithuanian Mint mark, country name, 2012 date and 50 Litu denomination. Maironis (1862–1932) was a poet, priest and educator whose patriotic and lyrical works profoundly influenced Lithuanian cultural identity. Struck in .925 silver with a Proof finish, this artistic commemorative is a compelling choice for collectors of literature, poetry and Baltic cultural heritage.
