A new coin, a capsule.
The 2000 Lithuania 50 Litu New Millennium silver coin is a striking Proof commemorative celebrating the arrival of a new millennium. Struck in .925 silver by the Lithuanian Mint, this KM#128 issue combines national identity with bold modern symbolism. The obverse features Lithuania’s historic Vytis: an armored knight on horseback holding a raised sword and shield, framed within a central heraldic shield. Flowing bands resembling a rainbow extend across the field, accompanied by stars, the country name, denomination and Lithuanian Mint mark. The reverse presents an abstract architectural composition of sweeping arches, a central circular sun and intersecting bundles of radiant lines forming a cross-like structure, with the year 2000 below. The geometric design evokes an arch or gateway into a new era, combining light, movement and transition. Designed by Rytas Jonas Belevičius, this Proof coin had a limited mintage of only 3,000 pieces, making it an appealing modern Lithuanian collectible.
