The 2018 Latvia 5 Euro “Coats of Arms” silver coin commemorates the centenary of the Republic of Latvia, linking national independence with the country’s historic regions and heraldic tradition. The obverse presents Latvia’s national coat of arms in striking relief: a rising sun crowns the divided shield, with a lion and griffin in its lower fields, while a larger lion and griffin act as supporters. Three stars rise above, with oak branches, ribbon and decorative heraldic elements below. The inscription “Latvija 100,” a Latvian flag motif and the dates 1918–2018 mark the independence centenary. The reverse displays four regional shields: Kurzeme with a lion, Vidzeme with a griffin, Zemgale with an elk, and Latgale with a griffin holding a sword. Enlarged heraldic silhouettes form the background, while the 5 Euro denomination completes the design. Struck in silver in Proof quality, this KM-200 coin is certified PCGS PR70, a perfect grade. An impressive piece for collectors of Latvian independence, heraldry and national symbols.
