A new coin, a capsule, a CoA.
Latvia 1 Lats 2010 “Coin of Time III” KM-114 is an innovative bimetallic commemorative combining a .900 silver outer ring with a striking dark-green niobium center. The obverse centers on a heraldic rose, its layered petals and leaves sharply modeled against the green surface, with small H and R letters below. The surrounding silver ring carries the country name, divided year 2010 and denomination VIENS 1 LATS. On the reverse, the green niobium center becomes an imaginative bird’s-eye landscape arranged as a circular wreath, with rugged mountains, cliffs and geometric terrain surrounding an open central space. Eight representations of lunar phases orbit this landscape across the silver ring, accompanied by numerous tiny star-like dots. Part of Latvia’s Coin of Time series, the design connects the passage of time with nature, lunar cycles and symbolic imagery. Designed by Laimonis Šēnbergs and engraved by Jānis Strupulis, it was struck by the Austrian Mint with a limited mintage of 7,000. Its green niobium, silver ring and unusual astronomical theme make it a standout modern Latvian collectible.
