Laos 2,000 Kip 2011 Year of the Rabbit is an elegant Lunar Calendar Proof silver coin enhanced with a pale jade-style ring and selective gilding. The reverse places a finely detailed gilded rabbit at the center, shown seated with long upright ears and textured fur. It is surrounded by a translucent circular insert bearing gilded characters and the English theme “THE YEAR OF THE RABBIT.” The outer silver field is richly decorated with flowering branches, blossoms, leaves, curling stems and ornamental scrolls, while additional gilded characters appear above and the 2011 date rests below. In the traditional zodiac, the Rabbit is associated with grace, kindness, peace, sensitivity and good fortune. The obverse features the Lao national emblem with rice sheaves, a central stupa, road, cultivated fields, trees, cogwheel, rising sun and ribbon, surrounded by a beaded border and the 2,000 Kip denomination. Its combination of Proof silver, gilt accents, floral artistry and jade-style decoration makes this Lunar issue a distinctive collectible.
