The Kazakhstan 100 Tenge Great Commanders – Sultan Baybars silver coin, issued in 2012, honors one of the most celebrated military leaders of the medieval era. Part of the Great Commanders series, it commemorates Sultan Baybars, the Kipchak-born Mamluk ruler whose military victories and political achievements shaped the history of the Middle East. The reverse presents an impressive composition featuring Sultan Baybars in armor beside his bridled horse, surrounded by fortress walls, monumental architecture, a domed tower, silhouettes of mounted warriors, crossed swords, and the dates 1223–1277. The obverse depicts a dynamic horseman wielding a sword and shield as the horse charges through stylized grass. Beside the rider appears the gold-plated State Emblem of Kazakhstan, the denomination 100 TENGE, the year 2012, and the inscription National Bank of Kazakhstan. Struck in .925 silver with a refined Proof finish, this beautifully designed commemorative combines outstanding artistry, historical symbolism, and exceptional minting quality, making it a remarkable addition for collectors of medieval history, famous commanders, equestrian themes, and world numismatics.
