This Indonesia 500 Rupiah silver coin, issued in 1970, commemorates the 25th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence, 1945–1970. KM-25 was struck in .999 fine silver with a Proof finish and a low mintage of only 4,800 pieces. The reverse celebrates Indonesian performing arts with an elegant Wayang dancer wearing an elaborate headdress, textured ceremonial costume and decorative jewelry. The figure holds and spreads an ornate patterned cloth in a graceful dance pose, while two small stars and the independence inscription frame the scene. The obverse features the Garuda Pancasila national emblem: a powerful eagle with outstretched feathered wings, central heraldic shield, star and other symbolic panels, and the ribbon “BHINNEKA TUNGGAL IKA.” The dates 1945–1970, year 1970, Bank Indonesia symbol and 500 Rupiah denomination complete the design. This scarce Proof beautifully unites independence history, traditional dance, folklore and Indonesian national symbolism.
