The 2005 Hungary 5000 Forint Gaspar Karoli University KM-785 silver coin, certified PCGS PR69 Proof, commemorates 150 years of Hungarian Reformed educational heritage. The obverse features an impressive university building with long symmetrical facades, numerous rectangular windows, decorative masonry, cornices, and a central entrance. The reverse displays an elaborate historical university emblem featuring a descending dove with outstretched wings, an open book bearing Greek letters, ornamental foliage, wheat ears, floral decorations, and flowing ribbons. Gaspar Karoli, a prominent Hungarian Calvinist pastor and scholar, completed the first full Hungarian translation of the Bible in 1590, profoundly influencing national literature and religious education. The university carries his name in recognition of this legacy. Struck in silver with beautiful Proof surfaces and certified PCGS PR69, this commemorative is an excellent addition to collections of European universities, religious history, and architecture.
