Gilbert Islands is a chain of small coral islands and atolls located in Micronesia. Being connected to the sea and sailing through all its history Gilberts, also called Kiribati, commemorate the significant vessels by minting them on special collectible coins. The ships Nadezhda, San Gabriel and Matthew are depicted on the special coins of Gilbert Islands issued in 2015. All three pieces are united in the set and sold together. The coins are made of the non-precious metal alloy and have face value of 1 dollar each. The reverse sides of the coins are given for the reliefs of the sailed ships and their names. The obverses of the pieces depict the Coat of Arms of the Gilbert Islands and the name of the issuing territory. The date of issue is indicated on the obverse below the central image.
