A new medal.
Germany 1939 Lechfeld silver medal, Kienast-554, designed by Karl Goetz and certified PCGS MS62, commemorates the Battle of Lechfeld in 955. The obverse depicts Emperor Otto I enthroned, wearing a crown and flowing robes, holding a fleur-de-lis scepter and an imperial orb topped by a cross. Two eagle heads flank the throne, while inscriptions reference the Holy Roman Empire and the German nation. The reverse presents a dramatic medieval cavalry battle with charging horses, armored riders, raised swords, spears, fallen warriors, and an angel hovering above the battlefield. The date 955 and the Lechfeld inscription complete this detailed composition. Otto I's victory over the Magyar forces helped secure Central Europe and strengthened his political authority. This historic medal combines medieval imagery with twentieth-century medallic craftsmanship. Nazism and fascism are condemned; offered solely for historical, educational, museum, and numismatic study. Buyers must be 18+ and comply with applicable laws; orders may be canceled.
