This 1980 France 50 Francs Hercules silver coin, KM-941.1, Gad-882 and F-427, is a distinguished Fifth Republic issue certified MS 67 by PCGS. Struck in .900 silver, it features Augustin Dupré’s historic Hercules composition, an enduring expression of French republican symbolism. One side portrays the muscular Hercules standing centrally between two elegantly draped female figures representing Liberty and Equality. Liberty holds a staff crowned by a Phrygian cap, while Equality carries balanced scales; their joined hands emphasize unity beneath the motto “LIBERTÉ ÉGALITÉ FRATERNITÉ.” A small leafy branch, Dupré’s signature, dots and a decorative rim complete the design. The opposite side displays “50 FRANCS” within a finely engraved wreath of olive and oak branches, tied together by a flowing ribbon. The surrounding “REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE” legend, star, mint marks, dots and 1980 date add further detail. The high MS 67 grade makes this French Hercules silver coin particularly desirable for collectors of classic European and allegorical coinage.
