France 25 centimes silver coin issued in 1845 during the reign of Louis Philippe I, King of the French, representing the monetary system of the July Monarchy. This elegant piece reflects the refined classical style of mid-19th century French coinage and the political era that followed the July Revolution of 1830.
The obverse features a right-facing portrait of Louis Philippe I, depicted with a laurel wreath adorning his hair, symbolizing authority and continuity. Fine details include carefully engraved curls, facial features, and the tied ribbon at the back of the head. The inscription “LOUIS PHILIPPE I ROI DES FRANÇAIS” surrounds the portrait, while the engraver’s signature “DOMARD F.” appears below the neck. A beaded border frames the design, enhancing its symmetry and elegance.
The reverse displays the denomination “25 CENT.” and the date “1845” within a beautifully detailed wreath composed of oak and laurel leaves tied with a ribbon at the base. The composition is balanced and precise, with additional mint marks and a dotted border completing the design.
Struck in silver and graded MS63 by PCGS, this coin shows strong detail and attractive toning. A classic collectible from the July Monarchy, it is an excellent addition for collectors of French royal coinage and 19th-century European history.
