The exotic coin set of 5 base metal pieces was issued by Alboran Island in 2015. The place is situated in the strait of Gibraltar between Morocco and Spain and belongs to the latter. Since the name of the island is derived from the Arabic pirate’s name Al Borani which had the ship base on the isle, the design of the coins contain some Arabic reminiscences such as Arabic inscriptions and ships with sails. Every coin of the set bear the Alboran Island’s Coat of Arms on the obverse along with the face value and the name of the island. There are map of the small Alboran island and the name of it placed on the obverse too. The coins have denominations of 1 pta, 5 ptas, 25 ptas, 50 ptas and 100 ptas, which is the non-existing currency. So, the coins are not a legal tender, just souvenirs. The reverses of the coins show various sailed ships with inscriptions in Arabic. The pieces are made of different metal alloys, so they have different colors.

Coins with some scratches and oxides (please, check photos).
