The Egypt 2 Piastres coin of 1937 (KM-365) featuring King Farouk I is a refined example of royal-era Egyptian coinage, struck in silver and certified PCGS MS65. Issued at the beginning of Farouk’s reign, this coin reflects the elegance and authority of Egypt’s monarchy during a pivotal historical period.
The obverse presents a left-facing portrait of King Farouk I wearing a traditional fez, with finely engraved facial features, uniform details, and Arabic inscriptions running along the rim. The delicate beaded border frames the portrait, enhancing its regal composition. The reverse is adorned with intricate Arabic calligraphy at the center, displaying the denomination “2 piastres,” surrounded by a decorative wreath composed of stylized leaves and floral elements. Additional inscriptions include the date and issuing authority, all enclosed within a finely dotted rim.
King Farouk I, who ascended the throne in 1936, was the last reigning monarch of Egypt before the 1952 revolution, making coins of his era historically significant and highly collectible.
A beautifully preserved silver coin with strong eye appeal and historical importance, it is an excellent acquisition for collectors of royal and Middle Eastern numismatics.
