The 1972 Czechoslovakia 100 Korun silver Trial Strike commemorates the 100th anniversary of the birth of Slovak poet Andrej Sládkovič. Certified MS66 by PCGS, this scarce trial issue represents an important stage in the minting process and holds special appeal for advanced collectors of Czechoslovak numismatics.
The obverse features a refined portrait of Andrej Sládkovič facing slightly right, his thoughtful expression and distinctive hair carefully modeled in relief. The dates 1872–1972 appear along the rim, marking the centenary of his birth. Beneath the portrait is the inscription “ANDREJ SLÁDKOVIČ,” flanked by delicate linden branch motifs, with the denomination “100” below and the small initials “AP” at the base.
The reverse displays the national coat of arms of Czechoslovakia: a crowned lion within a shield, encircled by the inscription “ČESKOSLOVENSKO.” At the bottom, four stylized pylons connected by a horizontal line form a subtle architectural ornament, with the initials “ZK” beneath.
Andrej Sládkovič, author of the epic poem “Marína,” was a key figure of Slovak Romanticism and cultural revival. This MS66 PCGS Trial Strike silver coin is a distinguished and collectible tribute to literature and national heritage.
