The 1928 Czechoslovakia 10 korun silver coin was issued to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the independence of the Czechoslovak Republic. Dedicated to President Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk, the founding father and first head of state, this jubilee issue reflects the pride and optimism of a young nation established in 1918 after the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
The obverse features a dignified right-facing portrait of Tomáš G. Masaryk with detailed hair, mustache, and sharp profile, encircled by his name along the rim with a beaded border framing the design. The reverse displays a large heraldic shield bearing the complex coat of arms of the Czechoslovak Republic: the Czech lion at center, alongside Slovak, Moravian, Silesian, and Ruthenian symbols, topped by the denomination “10 Kč.” Around the edge runs the inscription of the republic’s name and the commemorative dates 1918–28 separated by dots, all within a decorative beaded circle.
Struck in silver, this historic commemorative represents national unity and statehood. A classic interwar European issue honoring independence and democracy, highly desirable for collectors of early Czechoslovak coinage.
