A new coin.
The 1968 Czechoslovakia 10 korun silver coin was issued to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the National Theatre in Prague (1868–1968), a cornerstone of Czech cultural life and a powerful symbol of national revival. The National Theatre represents artistic independence, drama, opera, and the spirit of the Czech people.
The reverse showcases a dynamic classical composition: a graceful theatrical goddess standing in a chariot drawn by two rearing horses. Their raised legs, flowing manes, and muscular forms create movement and drama, while the goddess lifts a flaming torch high above her head, symbolizing enlightenment and culture. The dates 1868–1968 appear below, and the inscription referencing the National Theatre in Prague curves along the rim. The obverse bears the coat of arms of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic — a rampant lion within a shield topped by a five-pointed star — with the denomination “10” below and the state name surrounding the design.
Struck in silver in Proof quality and certified PCGS PR67 CAM, this example displays attractive cameo contrast and sharp detail. A refined cultural commemorative and an excellent addition to any serious European silver collection.
