The 1980 Czechoslovakia 100 Korun silver commemorative coin was issued to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Bohumír Šmeral, an important political figure in early 20th-century Czechoslovakia. Struck in silver and certified MS67 by PCGS, this high-grade example stands out for its sharp relief and excellent preservation.
The obverse features a detailed portrait of Bohumír Šmeral facing slightly right, wearing round glasses and a formal jacket. His name “BOHUMÍR ŠMERAL” curves along the left edge, while the dates “1880–1980” appear to the right, marking the centenary of his birth. The clean background enhances the sculptural clarity of the bust.
The reverse displays the coat of arms of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic: a lion within a shield topped by a five-pointed star. Around the rim runs the inscription “ČESKOSLOVENSKÁ SOCIALISTICKÁ REPUBLIKA,” with the denomination “100 Kčs” positioned below the shield.
Bohumír Šmeral played a significant role in the socialist movement and political development of Czechoslovakia in the early 1900s. This MS67 PCGS silver coin is an excellent collectible for those interested in political history, 20th-century Europe, and certified world silver issues.
