Cook Islands 5 Dollars 2009 “Great Commanders – Maj. Gen. George G. Meade” silver coin honors the Union general who secured victory at the decisive Battle of Gettysburg in 1863. George Gordon Meade (1815–1872) led the Army of the Potomac during one of the most critical turning points of the American Civil War, stopping the Confederate advance into the North.
