The Cook Islands 5 Dollars 2011 silver coin from the Russian Folk Crafts series is dedicated to Khokhloma, one of the most iconic styles of traditional Russian decorative art. This vibrant issue celebrates the centuries-old technique of wooden painting known for its rich red, gold and black floral ornamentation.
The reverse features a brightly colored Khokhloma rooster with an elegant, fan-shaped tail filled with intricate leaves, flowers and swirling patterns. Below it stands a traditional painted bowl adorned with stylized blossoms and foliage. To the right, two wooden spoons display detailed floral motifs. The mirrored silver background is enhanced with engraved flowers, vines and ornamental scrollwork, while the inscription “KHOKHLOMA” arches along the upper rim. The date “2011” and metal mark “Ag 925” appear near the lower edge.
The obverse presents the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley, surrounded by the inscriptions “ELIZABETH II,” “COOK ISLANDS,” and the denomination “5 DOLLARS.”
Struck in .925 silver with a Proof finish, this coin beautifully combines mirror fields and colorful design. A striking tribute to folk art and cultural heritage, it is an eye-catching addition to any world coin collection.
