The gorgeous set of coins depicting Chinese dragons was minted in 2012 by the Cook Islands. The series celebrate the Year of the Water Dragon which was the reigning animal sign of the 2012 by the Chinese Lunar Calendar. The set consists of 4 fan-shaped 1-dollar coins; being put all together they complete a round figure with a hole in the center - the form refers to the shape of an ancient Chinese coin. Each item has different colorized picture of the mystique creature. There are green, blue, red and orange dragons depicted on the coins. Next to the image is minted the year of issue in a rectangular frame. The obverse of the coin features the HM’s effigy along with her name and the name of the Islands. There is monetary denomination struck on this side also. The set is packed in a nice wooden case together with the Certificate of Authenticity decorated in Dragon-style as well.
