The Hound of the Baskervilles is the story by A. C. Doyle, one of the detective series about Sherlock Holmes’s adventures. The famous character was put in a lot of movies and other adaptations. Sherlock was played by more than 70 actors and is considered to be the most portrayed character in cinema since 1900. The movie about Sherlock Holmes filmed in USSR in 1979 has the plot of the Doyle’s story “The Hound of the Baskervilles”. The story's characters were played by the famous Soviet actors and the whole movie became the classics of the national cinema. The coin shows the colored printed images of the movie’s characters and, of course, the scary hound itself. The inscriptions around the central image in the reverse explain the name of the adaptation. The obverse shows the traditional effigy of the Queen of Britain and the issuing information.
