This China 5 Yuan silver coin, issued in 1988, commemorates the XV Winter Olympic Games held in Calgary and celebrates downhill skiing. KM-201 was struck in .900 silver with a Proof finish and a limited mintage of 10,000 pieces. The reverse captures a downhill skier in dynamic motion, leaning forward on long skis while gripping two ski poles. Detailed helmet, goggles, gloves, padded winter suit and ski boots emphasize the sporting equipment, while numerous stylized snowflakes and small snow particles create a vivid alpine atmosphere.
