The 1825 Brazil 37½ Reis copper coin, known as the “Golden Vintem,” was issued during the reign of Emperor Pedro I, the founder and first ruler of the independent Brazilian Empire. The obverse features the imperial coat of arms, crowned and framed by laurel and coffee branches tied with a ribbon — emblems of victory and prosperity. At the center, the armillary sphere and cross of the Order of Christ symbolize Brazil’s union with faith and discovery, with the inscription “IN HOC SIGNO VINCES” above. The reverse presents the denomination “37½” surrounded by a wreath of leaves, enclosed by the legend “PETRUS I D.G. CONST. IMP. ET PERP. BRAS. DEF.” and the date “1825” below, accompanied by the mintmark “M.” Struck in copper and graded XF45 by PCGS, this coin showcases rich patina and finely preserved details, representing the early years of Brazil’s imperial sovereignty and numismatic artistry.
