Issued for the First Centenary of Independence, the 1922 Brazil 1000 Réis in aluminum-bronze (PCGS MS63) unites imperial memory with republican pride. The obverse shows conjoined portraits of Dom Pedro I and President Epitácio Pessoa; around them the legends ACCLAM DA INDEPENDENCIA at left and X PRESID DA REPUBLICA at right, with the names D. PEDRO I and EPITACIO PESSOA beside the busts, a cluster of Southern Cross stars above, and the famous BBASIL minting error below. The reverse is rich in symbols and inscriptions: across the top 7 DE SETEMBRO and in the center 1000 RÉIS; at the bottom the circular legend 1º CENTENARIO DA INDEPENDENCIA with the split dates 1822 and 1922 flanking a radiant torch of liberty crossed by a royal crown and a Phrygian cap, all framed by leafy branches. A patriotic type blending rarity (BBASIL error), storytelling design, and attractive preservation—perfect for an advanced Brazil or world-history set.
